First Ministerial Meeting adopts the Group’s Final Declaration

The first Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport took place at United Nations Headquarters in New York under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan.

Government representatives, UN officials and partner organizations discussed transport cooperation and preparations for the UN Decade. Participants adopted a Final Declaration setting out the Group’s objectives and working methods.

The event also included the inaugural session of the Advisory Council. The Office of the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety announced its accession to the Group.
